Korea’s Tax System: A Growth-Oriented Choice

Korea’s tax system does not much resemble those found in developed countries. The tax bases are narrow and the overall tax burden is relatively low. Tax revenue as a fraction of GDP has increased steadily over the past decades, but at around 20 percent it is still among the lowest in the OECD.
