Martín Guzmán served as Minister of Economy of the Republic of Argentina from December 2019 to July 2022. He is currently a Professor at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University. He is also a Professor of Money, Credit, and Banking at the National University of La Plata, Argentina. Martin is a leading global expert in the fields of sovereign debt and debt crises resolution.
Martín is a member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences in the Vatican. He is also a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and a Commissioner of the Independent Commission for the Reform of International Corporate Taxation (ICRICT). Martin’s research focuses on the emergence, propagation, and resolution of macroeconomic disequilibrium, monetary economics, and economic development. His research has been published in leading international journals and books. He has served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Globalization and Development and is a member of the editorial board.
Martín holds a PhD. in Economics from Brown University, United States (2013). Prior to his doctoral studies, he received a B.A. in Economics (2005) and a M.A. in Economics (2007) from the National University of La Plata, Argentina.
